Women of the Bible and Beyond

Stage 5-6

This new unit aims to show the extraordinary and diverse role of women from the biblical account of creation to Jesus; from the early church to the present day. As key figures in the Bible and key eyewitnesses of some of its most significant events, students will grasp how remarkable a place women occupy in shaping God’s word and his world.

Here is a message essential for both young men and women. Society thrives when everyone understands the Bible’s transformative picture of the mutual value and equality of men and women and their partnership in the fulfilment of God’s plans.

After all, Jesus did not come declaring a different gospel for men and women.

By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

  • discuss the role of women as key characters and eyewitnesses in both the Old and New Testaments
  • articulate the Bible’s teaching about the equality and inherent value of men and women
  • consider the lives and witness of modern women of faith and reflect upon their own lives in light of the hope these women held.
