As readers see Jesus through Luke’s eyes, they also come to see many facets of this disciple—a man who was a devoted companion to Paul on his missionary travels both as an apostle and a prisoner, a dear doctor friend and a fellow worker in the proclaiming the gospel; an eloquent writer who teaches us more about Jesus, the Great Physician of the soul. These daily reflections cover 40 days—helpful in the Lent period leading up to Easter, but effective any time of the year. Reg Piper is on staff at St Michael's Anglican Cathedral Wollongong. He was Bishop of Wollongong from 1993 to 2007 and has served as rector of several Anglican parishes, including Holy Trinity Adelaide, Kiama and Gymea. Bishop Piper has a Doctorate of Ministry through the Fuller Theological Seminary in Los Angeles, and counts the evangelistic and pastoral ministry of the Apostle Paul as one of his special interests. He and his wife Dorothy have three children and seven grandchildren.
